In 2005, it was approved by the former State Forestry Administration to carry out the pilot construction of the National Wetland Park. In 2011, it passed the acceptance of the pilot construction and officially became the National Wetland Park.

The area of lakes and rivers in the Wetland Park accounts for about 37% of the total area, of which Qinhu lake is relatively large. Qinhu lake, also known as magpie lake, is named after "the flying collection of Magpies in the past". Qinhu lake is 1.4km in length from east to west and 1.5km from north to south. It looks like a jade pendant. It covers an area of about 3500 mu. There are nine main rivers leading to the lake area in all directions. It naturally forms a strange landscape of "Jiulong chaoque".
The landform of Wetland Park is flat and the elevation difference is very small. However, due to the natural soil forming process, the south part belongs to high sandy soil and the north part belongs to paddy soil. The soil quality and agricultural production characteristics are quite different, so there are generally high sandy soil, paddy soil and transition zone between high sand soil and paddy soil.
Qinhu wetland belongs to the north subtropical monsoon climate zone, which is the transition zone between subtropical zone and temperate zone. The climate region is not cold in winter. The average temperature in January is generally above 0 ℃, and it is hot in summer. The average temperature in July is generally about 25 ℃. The wind direction in winter and summer has obvious changes. The annual precipitation is generally more than 1000 mm, mainly concentrated in summer and less in winter.
The wetland park is divided into three functional areas: wetland conservation area, wetland restoration area and rational utilization area.
There are a large area of fish ponds and paddy fields in the restoration and reconstruction area. Due to human disturbance, the habitat is fragile, and ecological restoration is urgently needed to protect wetland ecology. To restore the damaged wetland with potential ecological value, enrich the wetland animal and plant diversity, restore the wetland habitat, provide buffer and expansion space for the wetland conservation area, and make the whole wetland ecosystem reach a virtuous cycle state. The total area is 160.17 hectares.
The main management facilities are distributed in the rational utilization area, with convenient land and water transportation, less interference to the conservation area and rich landscape types, which can be used as a place for science popularization and education and supporting services. We should make full use of wetland landscape resources, create wetland scenery with water features, meet the needs of public ecological leisure, and strengthen tourists' awareness of wetland protection through wetland experience activities. The total area is 240.75 hectares.

The dredging project of Qinhu lake has been implemented, which has greatly improved the water environment and water quality of Qinhu Lake wetland. At the same time, we should combine the construction of the scenic area with the protection of the diversity of animals and plants, and restore and rebuild the wetland ecosystem by planting trees in large areas and planting aquatic plants in high density. Two phases of wetland restoration projects have been carried out continuously, and nearly 10000 mu of wetland have been restored.
