The shell of conus fulmen (scientific name: pianoconus fulmen fulmen) has Lavender bands, dark brown longitudinal spots and flame spots. It has a shell and a pipe trench. The nervous system is concentrated, the esophageal nerve ring is located behind the salivary gland, and the gastrointestinal ganglion is located near the brain nerve center. The mouth is well developed and the esophagus has unpaired glands. Part of the mantle is rolled up to form a water pipe. It is hermaphroditic, and the male has a commissure. The olfactory apparatus was feathery with narrow tongue. It is a typical tropical species, inhabiting from intertidal zone, shallow sea to deep sand, rock or coral reef seabed. Carnivorous, feeding on worms, fish or other mollusks. It is mainly distributed in South Korea and Taiwan of China.
Distributed in Japan - Ryukyu, Japan, Vietnam. Japan's Fangzong peninsula is adjacent to the Pacific coast, Nanlu peninsula is adjacent to Japan's coast, and to the south of China's Taiwan area, taijikeng of Taipei County, Longdong Bay of northeast corner, Donggang of Pingtung County, and Taiping island of Nansha.
It is a tropical shellfish, like to live in warm water, inhabit in the intertidal zone ~ 100 meters deep gravel. Usually, they are ambush in the daytime and emerge at night. They usually eat meat and feed on other mollusks, worms and small fish. The venom sac in the body of the conus snail is transmitted through a poison tube to the toothed tongue which turns into an arrow. When prey approaches, it sticks out its snout and stabs its venomous tongue into the prey. The tooth tongue of taro snail will be broken every time it is used, and it will take some time to grow out again. The smaller the shell, the stronger the toxicity.
The venom of taro snail belongs to protein poison, which is similar to that of venomous snake. If you are bitten and poisoned, you will feel red, swollen and tingling. The common symptoms are burning sensation and numbness, and then gradually spread to the whole body, causing weakness of limbs, muscle paralysis, hallucination of consciousness, and fainting gradually. The final cause of death is myocardial weakness.
The meat is edible, and the shell is made up of various colors. The flower pattern is beautiful and can be viewed and valued.
